The end is quickly approaching. The prophecy of Revelation 16:12, was practically an impossible event as far as mankind was concerned. That particular prophecy states, that the Euphrates River will dry up when the armies of the East come to enter Israel to fight in the Battle of Armageddon. For thousands of years, man could never see this happening. The Euphrates is, to The Middle East, as the Mississippi River is to portions of The United States. However, in 1990, the country of Turkey, built a dam on the Euphrates called, "The Ataturk Dam." The dam can stop the flow of the Euphrates while the armies of the East cross over into Israel. This can be done by raising the height of the dam. Just a push of a button can trigger the mechanism that's in place and stop the flow of the river. Right now, the height of the dam is approximately 554 feet and the length of the dam is 5,970 feet, which is over a mile long.
Technology has really caused things to change in our lifetime. In Revelation 13:17 it says, that no man may buy or sell unless he has the mark, name or number of the beast. During the end times, everyone will need a mark or number in order to participate in the economy as we know it. Years ago, man could never imagine how this could or would ever be possible. The computer has come on the scene and has made many things possible. Now credit cards and debit cards are more popular than cash. People are already talking about a cashless society. Have you ever started to use your card, but didn't remember or know your pin number? The transaction was cancelled, immediately, bringing this prophecy to past.
God could see all the way to the end of time as we know it and has a complete plan for mankind. We know that in the final three and one half years of Daniel's "Seventieth Week," the computer age will be completed and man will have to have this mark or number in order to survive. Aren't we glad that we do not have to suffer with the non believers? The Bible clearly states, in I Thessalonians 5:9, "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ." I don't know about you, but I don't plan to be here at that time, because I've been bought with a price, "The Blood of Jesus." I'm saved by grace. I'm comforted with the knowledge of His Word. I know the rapture of the Body of Christ, takes place in Revelation Chapter 4. †
Staying Busy For Jesus
There's not a day that goes by, that we're not busy from daylight until late night. I'm not talking about when it turns dark, I'm saying, "Late night," which is 10:00 or later. There's always something going on or something to do. Every time, I tell the staff not to plan an event for a month or two, so we can catch our breath, something jumps right in front of us and requires our attention. I really have to pray and seek God for a week of rest. Things that we used to take for granted, we now have to really work for. I have to remind myself everyday, that I'm much older than I used to be and that I cannot do the same things I used to do and especially at the same pace or speed. We have to take time off, once in a while, to rest a little. Jesus had to take time off, once in a while, to meditate and talk to His Father. Even when we take a day off, we still serve and worship our Saviour. Debbie and I like to fish, just as the Disciples did. Sometimes, we go to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and spend three or four days there fishing. We've been going there for more than forty years. We've slept on the ground, in tents, in the back of our truck under a camper top. You name it and we've done it.
At that time, I was somewhat serving the Lord, but not as He wanted me to. I had always dreamed and prayed of having a decent truck with a slide-in camper to take to the Island. You must know that where we go there are no restrooms, stores or restaurants. You must carry everything. A ferry takes you about five miles out to the Island and lets you out. You tell them when you want them to take you off the island and from that point on, you're on your own. God has blessed us to buy a used truck and a used camper after many years of waiting. About once or twice a year we're able to save the money and take time off to go enjoy the most beautiful and peaceful place in North Carolina. It's wonderful to have 22 miles of pristine beach with no condos, motels or stores to hinder you. We travel up and down the beach until we find a great fishing spot, we then back up to the water and set up camp. Early in the morning, I'll set at the kitchen table, drinking coffee, reading my Bible and looking out over the ocean. If we catch fish, fine, if not it's OK. †
