2024 Volume 33 Issue 08 “You Have It”

“Faith,” is what we’re speaking about.  Take a moment, if you will, to take a journey with us back a few thousand years to the days of Abraham & Isaac.  You probably know the story.  Abraham trusted God’s word from the very beginning, when God told him to leave all of his relatives and move to a strange land.  Abraham, packed his belongings and left those he loved.  God had told Abraham that he would give him an enormous family if he would be obedient.  Abraham was obedient, but years went by and Abraham never saw the promise manifest.  God saw Abraham’s faithfulness and came to visit Abraham in person in the plains of Mamre.  We find this on the Book of Genesis, Chapter Eighteen.  They talked together, ate together and God confirmed His promise.  By this time, Abraham and Sarah were getting up in age and it was very difficult to understand how this could happen.  Never the less, Abraham trusted God and God kept His Word.  Isaac was born and grew into a young lad.  It was at this time, God spoke to Abraham and told him to go to a certain mountain and offer Isaac as a burnt sacrifice.  God told Abraham that He would tell him which mountain when he got there.  Listen very carefully, had Abraham been disobedient when God told him which mountain, things could have turned out much different.  What if Abraham had looked at Mount Moriah and said, “This mountain is too high, I’ll go to a smaller one.”  God operates on obedience.  When he saw Abraham’s obedience, God placed the ram in the thicket.  The ram was truly a blessing for Abraham and Isaac.  Was the ram placed there before Abraham arrived?  We don’t know, but it seems as though Abraham was being put to a test and he had to pass the test in order to receive his blessing.  This part of the story can be found in Genesis Chapter twenty two.  These same principles apply in our lives today.  We are to be obedient to God’s Word and  when we are, our blessings will appear on the scene.  Even though Sarah lived to be 127 years old and Abraham 175, they didn’t live to see the promises of God completed, but they saw the miracle of having Isaac manifest.  Sometimes, we feel we get impatient and God is wanting us to slow down and wait upon Him.  We may not see all of our blessings come to pass, but they will eventually.  We must keep the, “Faith” we have.  †

Morals

What we’re about to say will probably make some mad at us, but that’s alright.  The truth will make you stop and think and we hope make you a better parent.  Our youth are running wild and out of control.  The parents are part of the blame, along with many other conditions in their lives.  Many parents do not correct their children in the way that God teaches us.  This makes them disobedient to God, which is a strike against them.  The Bible teaches us that God spanks us or corrects us, when we are disobedient.  In Revelation 3:19 it says, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”  For those that may not know what chasten means, it can mean; to spank, to discipline, to correct.  The reason God would do such a thing, is because He loves His children.  He cares for them.  This is the way parents should correct their children.  Parents should care about their children enough to put a stop to them running over them.  We’ve seen this take place time and time again.  Many call us, “Old Fashion,” and we can truly say, “That’s wonderful.”  Parents, you must remember who are the parents and who are the children.  You’re in charge and you need to start acting like it.  We had rather go to jail, if need be, for correcting our children the way God tells us to do so, than visit our children at the Funeral Home.  This is what’s taking place all the country.  If parents would take a stand against the courts getting involved in child correction, we would have a much better society.  Please understand, we’re not speaking about child abuse , a parent that abuses a child needs to go to jail, but correcting a child in a Godly manner is right.  In Hebrews 12:5-11, “And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.  If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?  But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.  Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence; shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?  For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness.  Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”  As all can see, God corrects His children and if you have not been chastened by God, the Bible says you’re not His child, but you’re a bastard.  We want to point out that we’re reading in The New Testament.  God wants us to correct our children and timeout or taking away their phone or i-pad is not the answer.  Tear their tail up and let them know you’re their parent and they will respect you and obey you from now on.  Again, we are not talking about child abuse, we are talking about being a Christian Parent that will obey God and raise up God fearing children with righteous morals.  †
