" 7 Blessings That Many Miss "
Over the years we have studied the Bible, verse by verse, chapter by chapter, starting in Genesis and going forward. In doing so, one chapter stands out. Exodus Chapter 23. This is a great chapter of the Bible because it delivers a promise of seven blessings from God if we are obedient. In Verse 19 of Chapter 23, it begins by telling us, "The first of the first fruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the Lord thy God." Many people lose their blessings, because they simply do not understand God's ways nor His Word. God requires us to bring a tithe of our first fruits into His storehouse, which is the Church. Malachi Chapter 3 Verse 10. He then promises us that He will bless us abundantly, but here in Exodus, He tells us 7 things He will do for us if we are obedient. The first thing is:
1. He will send an angel before us to watch over us and keep us on the right pathway. Verse 20
2. He will be an enemy to our enemies when we obey Him. Verse 22
3. He will bless us with the provisions we have need of. Verse 25
4. He will not allow sickness to come near us. Verse 25
5. No one will miscarry nor be barren among us. Verse 26
6. We shall live out the fullness of our lives and shall not die early. Verse 26
7. We shall become fruitful and take possession of that which God has promised us in His Word. Verse 30
Many would say, "This is Old Testament Law and does not apply to us today." I beg to differ with them. Israel had to learn to give and receive, to sow and reap. We are to do the same and God makes it very clear in the New Testament. It's all about obedience and conquering greed. The Bible tells us in II Corinthians 9:6, But this I say, he which soweth sparringly shall reap sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully." There's a lot of people that believe in dropping a dollar or two in the collection plate once in a while is given plenty. There are others that are a little more generous. They pay their tithes after their taxes are taken out of their income. Some pay their bills first and only pay tithes on what's left. This is not what the Word of God tells. In the Old Testament God said to bring in the fruits of your first fruits. First fruits means your total first increase. In I Corinthians 16:12, the Word says "Upon the first day of the week, (which is Sunday) let everyone of you, (this includes you and me) lay by him in store, that there be no gatherings when I come". The Word also tells us in II Corinthians 9:7, "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." God wants us to have the love of Christ in our hearts and to give happily, not because we have to. We would have nothing without His blessings, so we should be glad to give that others might be saved and blessed.
Fellow Christians, please help us pray for our Brothers and Sisters in Christ that are following the cares of the world. We see more and more, each week, that are putting personal things before Church. As we near the end, the Bible tells us, there will be a great falling away. We are seeing a touch of it now. The devil has people deceived into believing they don't have to attend Church every week and they surely do not need to go on Sunday nights or to the mid week services. It's sad to see the ones you care about turn from serving the Lord in completeness. The Lord blesses us every day of the week with 24 hours of life. We should not mind taking a couple of hours out of that 24 to thank and worship Him. Are we in His Will when we fill our schedules so full that we just can't take that precious time? There was a time in our lives that we didn't attend Church as we should have. We also know that the Lord had to get our attention and it wasn't a pleasant experience for some of us. We hope that those of you that are reading this letter will examine your schedules and see where you stand. Are you too busy to serve the one that loved you and saved you from hell?
Standing On The Promises Of The Lord
We look around, today, and we see all the signs of recession. Gas prices are skyrocketing daily. Grocery prices are climbing each week, but the Lord has made His Children a promise. He says He will be with us and see us through every circumstance and situation. We must hold fast to the faith and not be concerned as the world is concerned. We should not let worry, doubt or unbelief enter into our thoughts. We must know without a doubt that the Lord is our supplier and that His source shall never run dry. His warehouse will never be empty and His delivery source does not depend on gasoline. We are His Children and He will take care of us. We are seeing the Scriptures fulfilled right before our eyes. This nation is turning to the evil forces day by day and this must take place before Christ can come. We, as Christians, are not to be discouraged, but we are to be excited that we are living in the days when Jesus will come for His Body.
