"Splinters"

It's totally amazing to see how quickly many will cast down their crosses in these last days.  One must realize when you make the decision to follow Christ, you will have to carry your own cross.  Mark 8:34, "Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."  Once you place that cross upon your back you'll learn that it gets heavy.  In the beginning it's not that difficult to carry and you go along at a fast pace, but soon blisters, splinters and pain will come.  People must realize that wood has splinters and if you carry a piece on your back, you'll get splinters.  This is the point where some will cast down and walk away making excuses as to why they are giving up.  Others, will continue no matter how difficult it gets.  They have a made up mind.  A wise person knows the more a piece of wood is handled, the smoother it gets and the place which was once a blister, becomes a callus.  The Lord tells us plainly in II Timothy 2:12, "If we suffer, we shall also reign with him:"  God has never promised us that our walk would be easy, but many think once they have Christ, that everything will go smoothly.  In many cases it does.  Wouldn't you rather go through the valley with Jesus by your side than to walk it alone?  People pray for a closer walk with Jesus and when the trials and tests come their way, they can't understand why they're having problems.  When you ask to walk closer to the Lord, you're asking for the fire to be turned up.  You have to be tried and tested to see if you are going to stand.  We encourage every Christian to keep walking as long as you can and when you can't take another step, just stand.  But while you stand, keep holding the Cross.  Splinters will vanish, blisters will turn to calluses and you will grow stronger in the Lord.

"A Pure Heart"

As Children of God, our hearts are to be clean and pure, because the Word says in II Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."  We also know that from the abundance of our heart our mouth speaks.  Matthew 12:34.  Our children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends and fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ are listening to us.  We need to make certain they hear the love of God coming from our vessels.  Therefore, if our hearts are clean and pure, our conversations should be the same.  Listen to yourselves this week and see if you speak as Christ would.  Are you saying things you would never say in Church?

The Three T's

Time, Talent and Treasure

Time: God has allotted you so many days, weeks, months and years, here on earth, to see how you will use this valuable gift.  God has given each of us the most precious gift one could possibly have, life and for those of us who are saved, eternal life.  God has placed us here to reach as many people as we possibly can and witness to them telling them they must repent of their sins and accept the finished work that Jesus did for them on the Cross.  We are to help feed the hungry that are placed in our pathway and to help everyone in need when it's within our power to do so.  We are to use the time God has given us to do all we can to further the Kingdom of God.  In Matthew 6:33, Jesus said, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."  When we obey our heavenly Father and do His will, He adds days, weeks, and years to our lives.  Time is a valuable asset, we should spend it wisely and not waste it.  Talent:  God gave each of us a talent to see how we would put it to use.  Some have the gift to sing, some the gift of preaching, some teaching, some praying, others the gift of leading and so on.  You may say, "I can't do any of those things."  Well, most people can talk.  You can speak words of encouragement to everyone you meet.  If you were to do this daily, just think of how many lives you could affect in your lifetime.  In Acts 1:8, Jesus said, "But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."  Many can write.  You could write a little note to every sick person, every bereaved person or just those that live alone and encourage them to trust in the Lord.  Use the talent God gave you.  Treasure:  We are hearing from more and more people that since they started giving and doing what the Bible tells them to do, they are being blessed abundantly.  Luke 6:38, "Give and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.  For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."  Take a handful of the seed God has given you and share it with others.  He has given you a treasure to see if you will use it selfishly or if you will help others.  If you are not sowing seed in good ground, you will not reap a harvest at all and you will always be in want or need.  Continue to seek the Lord for the ground you are to plant seed in, because it's God's law of sowing and reaping.  It's simply being obedient to the Lord.  You pray and do what you feel is right and watch what the Lord does for you.
