We’ve all had things to happen in our lives that we felt we were the only ones that could fix them. WRONG!!! When we trust in our abilities, to do everything, we’re limiting God. Sure, we’re to have self confidence and to think positive, however, many times we allow these feelings to interfere with our faith. God sent Jesus to save us from our sins, but even Jesus, the Son of God, tells us all through the New Testament to always ask His Father, “God” for all of our needs. God wants to help you through every situation you find yourself in. What many of us fail to realize is, God allows many, if not all, of these mountains and valleys to come in our lives to see how we handle them. Using our faith is to turn every problem over to God and remind Him of His Word. In Matthew 11:28, He says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” The Bible also states in I Peter 5:6-7, Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” God watches to see how we react to certain things, which He places before us. Many times, we’ve failed terribly, before knowing the Word, Will and Way of God’s plan. Over the years, we’ve heard many blame Satan for things that happened to them. Satan, possibly, had nothing to do with it. Most of the time, we bring things upon ourselves through disobedience. It’s a well known fact, that God doesn’t want us to suffer pain, sickness or loss in any way, but sometimes He has to chasten us, because of our disobedience. Also, in order to get our attention or to draw us nearer to the cross, he allows the enemy to place obstacles in our pathway. The only way to pass any test, that’s placed before us, is to praise our way through it. It really doesn’t matter why the mountain or valley is there. We only need to repent from our heart, recognize our failure and give it all to the Lord. Once we learn that we can do nothing on our own, we can begin to move forward. Until we learn this, its as if we are at a standstill. Jesus tells us in John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” God gives us common sense and He expects us to use it. We must use our faith and the greatest way to exercise it, is to trust God to handle everything. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:9-13, “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen” First, let’s point out that Jesus tells us to let God’s will be done, not ours. There are also a couple of words we want to bring to your attention, because we see them spoken or written incorrectly so often. The first is, “which.” The Bible states, “Which art in heaven,” not who art in heaven. The second is, “in.” The Bible states, “In earth as it is in heaven,” not on earth. We know this may seem to be a very minor thing to some, but if you begin misquoting scriptures, the enemy will begin deceiving you even more. Let’s teach our children the true prayer as it’s written in the Bible. †
Greater Works
John 14:12, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” The key words spoken here are, “He that believeth.” The word believeth simply means he that has total faith. The Greek word for faith is “pisteuo,” to be persuaded of, to believe, to place confidence in, the assurance of things not seen. The Lord promises each true believer that they can receive power to make things happen or bring things to pass just as he did. When we believe fully with mind, heart, body and soul we can do anything. There’s no limit set on the Child of God. It’s totally up to us to exercise our faith. We can do the same works that Christ did, because He tells us we can. Some may argue that it was only for the disciples, but then He would be doing for some and not for others. That would have Christ going against His own Word. We must believe, doubting nothing to receive this power. The greater works, spoken of here, could be anything that comes before us as the occasion rises. Verses 13 and 14 of John Chapter 14, are very clear about this. “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” Then we have this written Verse 14, “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” The key word here is “ASK,” Then we have whatsoever and anything. We have a power of attorney, which gives us spiritual and legal rights to ask God in Jesus name for anything we need. We will have these things when we exercise our total faith. God doesn’t want us asking while doubting He’s going to deliver. It goes back to, “He that believeth.” In Mark 11:23 Christ says, “and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith.” This is a very powerful statement, but we serve a very powerful God! †
