2025 Volume 34 Issue 23 “Learning To Pray”

Commands, Christians are to Follow!

We find several commands, throughout the New Testament, that we are to obey.  We are to warn those that are unruly.  We’re to comfort those that are feebleminded.  We’re to support the weak and we’re to be patient toward all men.  We’re not to follow evil, but follow that which is good, no matter what the evil pull of this world does to try to deceive us.  We’re to rejoice evermore.  Not concentrating on our feelings or the circumstances around us.  We’re to pray without ceasing.  These are just a few commands found in I Thessalonians 5:14-22.  There are more than 1,000 commands, in the New Testament alone that we are to obey.  Some people think we’re crazy when we keep telling them this, so we thought we would show just a few.  We’re to give thanks in everything.  Everything covers everything.  Good, bad and ugly.  We have to realize that God is always right and He always knows best.  Therefore, He never makes a mistake.  So whatever comes our way, there’s an important purpose for it and we must simply thank Him, for it pleases Him for us to do so.  Quench not the Spirit of God.  Never fight against the Holy Ghost.  The Greek word used is, “sbennumi” which means: put out or extinguish.  We’re to let the fire of the Holy Ghost do God’s will in our life.  We’re to let our light shine.  The Lord commands us not to hold back nor despise prophesyings.  Sometimes prophecy puts us in our place.  It steps on our toes and we’re not comfortable being around those that prophesy.  We’re to prove all things and hold fast to that which is good.  Test the waters and that which is of God, hold on to it.  The devil is just like having a child in the kitchen, while you’re icing a cake.  He’s going to try and put his hands in your work no matter how hard you try to watch all angles.  We’re to abstain from everything that looks, smells, tastes or appears to be evil.  We’re to prepare our vessels for Christ at His appearing.  He’s not coming for vessels that are unclean and unfit to inherit His Kingdom.  Concerning prayer, where it says, “Pray without Ceasing”.  We need to continually seek God’s Will for our lives, by reading, studying, talking and listening to God.  The men of the church need to spend more time praying for their own walk with God than worrying about what others in the church may be doing.  Families had better get serious about talking to and with God.

We Have a Home

We’re going to boast a bit in the Holy Ghost.  We are somebody in Christ Jesus.  The devil knows us, all the demons of hell know us by our first name, but more importantly, God knows us as His Children, Jesus knows us as His adopted Brother/Sister and that’s all that matters.  We walk on this earth in an earthly tabernacle, but one day soon, we’ll have a new home, not made with hands.  Sinners, we’ve been sent to warn you to repent and turn to Christ for salvation.  The choice is yours.  Children of God, it’s alright to boast in the Holy Ghost and let the world know who you are.  As you continually tell the world that you are a Child of the King, a chosen vessel, an anointed one and one that cannot be moved.  The devil will soon realize he’s fighting a losing battle.  As God sees you take a stand, every time the enemy comes against you, The Holy Ghost will come to your rescue.  It’s time for each of us to get into the spiritual battle Paul writes about in Ephesians Chapter Six.  You may say, “Yes, but I’ve been in the battle for years.”  Well, tell the devil you’re there.  We have a new home and one day soon, we’ll move in.  Our street is paved with pure gold.  There will be no more dying there, no sorrow, no pain nor suffering.  We might suffer on this earth for a while, but soon and very soon, we’re going to see the King.

There’s Peace in the Valley

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.”  David knew he wasn’t alone in the valley.  He knew who he was, even though the Messiah had not yet come.  The Holy Ghost had given him comfort, that God would be with him through the valley and that God would carry His Rod and His Staff to beat off any danger that would come David’s way.  David was not ashamed to tell the world in whom he trusted and God showed up every time to deliver him from his enemies.  God tells us in Malachi 3:6, “For I am the Lord, I change not.”  In Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”  Why do you think these Scriptures are written in the Bible?  They are there, so we can place our full confidence in knowing that God and Christ has our backs and nothing by any means shall harm us. (Luke 10:19)  Children of God, it’s time to rejoice and be glad.  Paul writes in Romans 8:38-39, “For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  This is the reason for our joy.  We are persuaded that Paul is right.  Our goal and duty is to remind Satan everyday of how he was defeated at Calvary.

Living Life to it’s Fullest

Each of us, need to take a good look at our lives.  People are watching us at all times.  Are we living our lives to it’s fullest capacity?  Are we setting good examples for those that are watching?  We must keep positive attitudes at all times.  It doesn’t matter what the situation is.  We must let the world know that our faith is in Jesus Christ and must make sure of our surroundings at all times.  The devils knows the people around us and we must assume that Christians are watching or maybe someone that needs to be saved is watching to see how we Christians respond to certain situations.  Let’s make the most of the precious time that God has given us.  Live your life to the fullest for Christ.
